Country/Folk's master lyricist returns
with a stunning new
Double Interactive CD Set......
"This album is fantastic.
Sparse arrangements which allow the lyrics to speak for themselves.
The political content will probably kill it in the commercial
country market - but there will be those who will
wish they had the courage to speak as he does. Even more importantly,
there will be many Australians who will be relieved that someone
has finally given a voice to the vague sense of unease they have
felt these past few years.
In these songs is the shape
of the Australian national conscience, and that is something that
cannot remain
submerged forever. These songs may never make number one with
a bullet, but they will be treasured long after the popular culture
is consigned to the $4.99 rack. Ihe interactive alone is worth
price of the admission "

Following 'hot on the heels' of her win in the Australian Independent Country Music Awards as Independent Female Vocalist of the Year, Shoestring Country Folk Artist,Karen Lynne has taken out The Traditional Country Section in the 2004 Victorian Country Music Awards with 'The Outbacks Been Getting the Rain,' a gorgeous rendition of the song written by her duo partner, Pat Drummond during his stay at Nappermarie station on Coopers Creek.
The 2003 release of Karen's fourth album,'Second Wind' through Shoestring was tipped to bring her great success over this year and this indeed it has. In addition to rave reviews and Top 10 Chart successes for the initial two singles in Australia, The Album has now received no less than 11 Final Award Nominations nationally.
The Gala night was rounded off in fine form when her Shoestring stablemate, Brent Parlane picked up the major Award for 'Independent Album of the Year' with his brilliant Country/Folk offering 'The Happy Note'; Brent's second album with the label after the terrific Chambers/ Parlane collaboration 'Good Man Down'. Brent remains one of Australia's finest songwriters and Shoestring Records is very proud to have him associated with the label. Further singles to follow the success of 'After Love' will be lifted from 'The Happy Note' later this year.
The past 18 months has seen Shoestring Records expand enormously as a label. Consistent Award wins by theNaked Poets 1,2 &3; Mark Tempany's 'The Long Highway' and Karen Lynne's fabulous Bluegrass and Country folk productions, have placed the label at the forefront of the Country Folk and Country Comedy fields in Australia. In recognition of this, Shoestring was awarded the prestigious 2003 Independent Record Company of the YearbyThe Country Music Association of Australia in a gala Sydney event in July. The label now represents 17 acts and nearly 60 titles.
Label Boss Pat Drummond is also set to step back into the limelight in April after several years somewhat sidetracked by Industry duties with the release of his own epic Double Album called 'The Chess Set'. Comprised of two seperate and quite different CDs; 'The Age of Dissent' and 'The Descent Of Age', the album was produced by Pat's son, Peter, well known to Country Music Fans as the dynamic drummer for The Dead Ringer Band and the Bushwackers throughout the 90's.
